Miso Soup with Clam (Asari Miso Shiru)

Miso soup is a traditional Japanese soup where Miso paste was mixed with dashi stock. Different ingredients are added to the soup with different regional and seasonal recipes, and personal preferences. It is one of the two basic soup types of Japanese cuisine, the other one is Suimono. Remember to soak your clams for 20 minutes in fresh salted water just before cooking. After 20 minutes, the clams would have been cleaned of the salt and sand they have collected.
